Water testing on wells is required by some lenders such as the VA and FHA. They normally require a standard water test which tests levels of nitrates, nitrites and bacteria (eColi).

Nassau County Health Department offers these tests at an affordable rate. However, the state lab they use is usually backed up and the water test results often take more than 2 – 4 weeks to be delivered. This is normally too long for buying a home because the inspection period is usually 15 days or less.
