You might be surprised how often I see this during a home inspection – a water heater drain pan that will leak on the floor.
Why install a drain pan for your water heater if it’s just going to leak out on the floor anyway because you didn’t plug the fitting?
Also, put a water alarm in the drain pan so that you’ll know if your water heater starts leaking.
